HVAC Maintenance in Sebastopol
It may be tempting to put off any work on your HVAC system until you need to have it fully repaired, but that could cause problems in the long run. Most HVAC systems last between 15 and 20 years, and regular HVAC maintenance is the best way to extend your own system’s lifespan.
You should schedule at least one HVAC tune-up every year, preferably in the spring or fall when the temperature outside is relatively mild. That way, if our technician finds bigger problems that need to be fixed, you have some time to schedule repairs.
Most HVAC tune-ups will consist of the following tasks:
- Checking and adjusting blower motors and belts
- Tightening electrical connections
- Lubricating all moving parts
- Checking and cleaning the condensate drain
- Cleaning the evaporator coils
- Checking and replenishing coolant levels
- Testing controls
- Calibrating the thermostat
- Completing an inspection and test of your HVAC system
You should schedule at least one HVAC tune-up every year, but you can also schedule separate tune-ups for your furnace and your air conditioner if you want to get the most out of them. This might be the case if you have an outdoor AC unit. Outdoor units are exposed to the elements and may need to be cleaned or maintained more often than indoor units. At the very least, you should keep an eye on your outdoor AC unit and keep it clear of brush and debris.
If you do decide to schedule separate tune-ups for your furnace and your air conditioner, we recommend scheduling a furnace tune-up in the early fall and AC maintenance in the early spring.
